Theodore “Theo” Hayes, III
(President of the Compton Cricket Club, Captain and co-player coach of the since 1997)
Making history, Theo played on the original Los Angeles Krickets, the first American-born Cricket team to travel internationally-England-the United Kingdom since 1926.
The Krickets was comprised primarily of homeless Black men residing at the DomeVillage in downtown Los Angles a project of Justiceville/Homeless, USA (JHUSA) a 501c-3 corporation. The American team was accompanied by ex-patriot cricket players for moral support.
Along with his dad and Ms. Katy Haber, team manager and co-founder of the American Cricket venture, Theo led and participated in three additional U.K. tours with a group of primarily Hispanic/Latino (Mexican) teens from ComptonCalifornia as well a homeless men of the , DomeVillage. This team is internationally known as the Compton Homies & the POPz.
During these Exhibition Cricket playing tours to the England placed Theo, his younger brother Isaac, also a member of the Homies & the POPz playing at prestigious legendary Cricket venues such as: Lord’s cricket Grounds in London, Hambledon, the home of Cricket; and even Windsor Castle of Britain’s Royal family.
Theo produced and co-wrote with Isaac Hip-Hop-Rap theme music in regards to life experiences on and off the Cricket field, entitled “Bullets” and “Shots”.
These original hip-hop lyrical tunes the Hayes boys call “Hip-Hop-Cricket Rap” were performed live and personally for HRH Prince Edward in the his mother’s HRH Queen Elizabeth II’s Cricket Club House after playing the Windsor Castle Side on her field. Also, Theo nd Isaac backed by the Homies & the POPz performed their exciting tunes for the late Mo Mollam, former Home Secretary for Northern Ireland.
Currently residing in Los Angeles, Ca., Theo is still actively involved in coaching youths and adults the game and etiquette of Cricket and also playing when he has the opportunity.
He is presently a full-time employee for Williams-Sonoma where for the month of March, he was awarded Employee of the Month, and continues to dream, believe and faithfully work towards the day when Cricket will be a popular and respected sport in the U.S.A; and eventually produce a team that will perform competitively on the International level and win the Cup Championship.
